The Belt and Road

The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation was held in Beijing on May 14–15, 2017. I am so proud of my country when I first read this news. In 2013, President Xi Jinping advocated an initiative to develop the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road aiming to cooperate with different counties to create a open and inclusive regional economic architecture that benefits wider areas. Chinese government encourages different countries and different civilizations to strengthen dialogues with each other. The Initiative is not limit to areas around Silk Road. It is open to the world. China will interact closely with eastern, western and central regionals to boost Chinese economy.

NUMBERS

In the past three years, China has signed cooperation agreements with more than 40 countries and international organizations. Chinese government reinforces the investment by adding additional RMB 100 billion to the Silk Road Fund. China has invested more than $50 billion to other Belt and Road countries and total trade has exceeded $3 trillion. Not only that, but Chinese companies have brought $1.1 billion of tax revenue and 180,000 jobs to Belt and Road participating countries. China plans to invite 2,500 foreign young scientists to come to China working on researches. Meanwhile, China will train 5,000 foreign scientists and set up 50 joint laborites in five years.

BENEFITS

1. Diplomas issued by universities from China and 24 countries are mutually recognized.
2. Chinese government will offer more opportunities of government-sponsored overseas studies.
3. The "value" of a Chinese passport has been steadily improved. Chinese citizens could enter 53 destinations on their passports and obtain visas on arrival.
4. A trip of High-Speed Railway to Europe is no longer a dream.
5. Cross-border online shopping is more convenient.

For foreigners, the Belt and Road makes their dreams come true.
