A Bite of China

"A Bite of China" is a series 2-season gourmet-oriented documentary on CCTV (China Central Television). The director of "A Bite of China" points a lens at ordinary Chinese through showing their three meals everyday. Every dish showing in the documentary calls to mind a feeling of home for those people who are perennially drift out of their hometown. The documentary is airing every Friday's night. It was tormenting when I first watched it because all these gourmet aroused my appetite. I always put snacks near by me while watching this gourmet show. After studying aboard, every time when I feel homesick, I will watch this documentary over and over again and then let tears flow. I comfort my heart by buying snacks online. The most favorite part in my mind of "A Bite of China" is "ordinary". Ordinary people talk about their ordinary life in each ordinary day. I find myself and see real humanity in this documentary.

Chinese Food I Miss the Most: Lanzhou hand-pulled beef noodles

I was born in Lanzhou. Lanzhou is my hometown. My root is there. One of the most delicious food in my hometown I miss the most is beef noodles. Authentic Lanzhou beef noodles is a classic bowl of hand-pulled noodles comes with beef broth, slices of beef, coriander and spring onions. Local residents in Lanzhou treat beef noodles as a card of Lanzhou. It represents personality and culture in northwest. The locals usually regard beef noodles as a best choice of breakfast. Beef noodles is also my earliest childhood memory because my father always took me to eat a huge bowl of noodles in the cold winder morning. Beef noodles warm up my body and my heart, therefore I perennially retain a habit to eat noodles rather than rice.

The third season of "A Bite of China" will begin broadcasting during 2018 Chinese New Year. I will definitely keep watch there during the time of broadcast.
